As peacemakers, we believe that the development of the whole world in general, and of Africa, especially the Great Lakes Region of Africa in particular, will come from impowerment and self-reliance of the current generation. Education is an imperative effort to prepare the next generation to build a peaceful and prosperous Africa that is capable of finding solutions to its problems. In order to achieve a meaningful learning environment, children need to be free from all forms of violence in their homes, schools, and communities, and to know their rights and responsibilities. They also need to be aware of how the government, the community and their parents protect them from violence and abuse
